Listening to music can reduce
chronic pain by up to 21 per cent and depression
by up to 25 per cent, according to a paper in

Sound Therapy is a unique listening system
using new knowledge about the brain. Based on
the discoveries of the ear specialist, Dr
Tomatis, the method developed by Patricia and
Rafaele Joudry is now available as a portable
self help program that can be used by anyone,
anywhere.
Specially recorded analogue tapes of highly
filtered classical music are used to
rehabilitate the ear and stimulate the brain.
Sound Therapy stimulates the ear by presenting
it with constantly alternating sounds of high
and low tone. This in turn exercises the middle
ear muscles and stimulates the receptor cells in
the inner ear.

As the ear becomes open and receptive to high
frequency sounds these are then passed on to the
brain. The brain is recharged by means of sound,
releasing latent vitality, obliterating
tiredness, lessening the need for sleep, and
inducing a permanent state of peace and
relaxation.
The self help program is done using cassette
tapes and a portable tape player. It is easy to
do and takes no time out of your day. In fact
many people say it gives them an extra two or
three hours a day!
How you use it
Sound Therapy is easy to use
Sound Therapy is listened to on portable equipment at low volume as you go about your daily activities. It is very simple to use and takes no time out of your day. However, as it is a self help program, listeners do need to read one of Rafaele Joudry's books: Sound Therapy: Music to Recharge your Brain or Triumph Over Tinnitus or Why Aren't I Learning in order to understand the correct use of the program and to answer any questions that might come up. The talking book is available for those who are visually impaired or prefer to listen rather than read.
Equipment
Sound Therapy can be listened to on a cassette player which reaches a frequency response of at least 14,000 Hertz (14 Kilohertz) or can be listened to on any CD
player or any good audio player. Sound Therapy must be listened to through headphones (or earphones) not through speakers.
A portable player is essential as it allows you to move around and so get in the required hours of listening without any interference with your daily activities. The cassette player should be auto-reverse, as the convenience makes it much easier to do the required time, especially during sleep. At present we have only 1 model of tape player available being Sony WM-FX290 Cassette Walkman This player is 15000 Hz and not auto-reverse. Please see Complete Range of Accessories to see all our headphones and players that are available. Use rechargeable batteries and a battery recharger as this will save on cost.

Hours
The required listening time for adults is three hours per day and for children 30 to 60 minutes. However Sound Therapy takes no time out of your day at all as you listen during your usual daily activities. The time for results to be achieved varies from a few days to a few months. On average the program takes between six weeks and three months to achieve full results.
Activities during listening
Sound Therapy is played at very low volume on portable equipment so it does not interfere with any other activities. While listening you can read, work, exercise, talk, listen to radio or TV, have a conversation, talk on the phone, use a computer or even sleep.
You can do Sound Therapy during any activity except tennis or sex!
